As a Mexican-American watching the half-time show with a predominantly white audience, I can confirm. You could 100% tell who was conservative just by how their posture changed and the comments.
“Why do they have to dance like that…”
“It’s all in Spanish, why not sing in English?!”
“He should be carrying an American flag!”
“Rick Martin!!! He’s an illegal!”
“Just change the channel now!”
With that said, there were folks in the crowd who offered words of encouragement.
“Why are you mad? Watch the Kid Rock show on your phone! Oh, right, because even you know Kid Rock sucks.”
“Whatever, this is awesome!”
“You just made these Latin women give you a boner.”
“Shit, I need to go to Puerto Rico!”
