So the Soviet Union failed because the government was taking away everyone’s earnings and giving them to a few highly placed party members, unearned.
So now we have a situation in the United States where the government is taking away everyone’s earnings and giving them to a few highly placed party members, unearned. But because we do it here by keeping the minimum wage artificially low, and giving giant tax breaks and deregulation to billionaires, we can call it capitalism. But it’s still redistribution of wages away from the people who earned them.

This is the crux of Neo-liberalism, the ubiquitous political theory both parties in this country subscribe to. It’s not just MAGA that falls for it, and its why everything seems to just get worse regardless of who wins elections. Granted trump is attempting to replace it with theocratic authoritarianism, but even it will be placed atop the boneyard of Neo-liberalism.
