Sarah Goodridge, an accomplished miniaturist painted this on a small ivory plate. She sent this particular miniature, carefully enclosed in a leather case with two clasps, to the newly widowed U.S. senator Daniel Webster.
Its a similar approach as Miniature Portraits of Eyes which was very popular at the time.

I’m reminded of thr female Rule 34 artist “aroma_sensei” who is both a digital artist and a cosplayer. (She used herself as a character model for her artworks.) I’m not kidding.
This isn’t the first. This is sensationalized for some reason, but do you really think while painting has existed, nobody painted a sexual image of themselves to give to someone?
This is dumb. No offense, you just were fed the dumb
Nice
I wonder what Webster thought
Probably a mistake sending it to the guy who once wrote “I don’t see how I can live any longer without having a friend near me, I mean a male friend. Yes, James, I must come; we will yoke together again; your little bed is just wide enough.”
