They seem to have “Lenin” below their helmets, which presumably is the name of their ship.
Given that the Soviets named that way their first nuclear icebreaker, that part is surprisingly plausible.
*Smena* does mean “shift”, but it also has connotations of “change/replacement” or “next generation”.
