Oil companies don’t want anything to do with it. Absolutely clueless.

“Temporarily run the country”. As if it’s some third world country without an existing opposition party?

There’s no plan. The Venezuelans are still ruled by the same people, just without Maduro. Trump just wanted his own bad guy moment with a cool photo op, so he can say “we got em!”
There really seems to be no plans beyond that.

According to Matt Randolph, Mr. Global on YouTube, the oil companies have little interest in Venezuela. The infrastructure is shot and might require as much as 100 million in upgrade to ramp up production. Also, they lost their asses there when Chavez came in and so turned to Canadian shale. Also, yes there is more, if they got Venezuela up to par, it would lower the price of oil thereby jeopardizing their Canadian profits. So once again, Trump read something in a fortune cookie and acted on it. Apparently, according to Randolph, he didn’t consult the oil companies first. Chevron, again according to Randolph, is being paid in barrels of oil while helping the Venezuelans with their maintenance of oil resources.
