I fucking hate that studio. The QR code at the end of their movies asking people to buy tickets to boost their sales is so fucking shameless.

Just looked them up. They’re based in Utah, which explains their choice of movies

Maybe I am the only person in the world to say this, but I think the reaction to the movie is quite the exaggeration.
Wasn’t there a cartoon about Animal Farm in the 1950’s? I get the original wasn’t a comedy, but imagine trying to introduce this concept to children nowadays *without* using humor as an art form. No child would watch it.
At least this way there’s exposure to the concept. The original message still has the ability to stand, even if it’s given a more lighthearted approach.

It’s not ruining animal farm, the book still exists, it’s just ruining its own movie.
Honestly it makes sense they’d change it too, Animal Farm is a very left wing book and that’s very difficult to ignore: a publisher that primarily caters to right wing evangelicals definitely wouldn’t want an animal farm adaptation true to the book.

I’m just so fucking confused. It’s anti-communist, which is narrative big movie studios and America as a whole still wants to push. Why change it at all?

They didn’t make it. Andy Serkis and his production companies made it, premiered it at some festivals, and then Angel Studios bought the wide distribution rights.

Has there been much released on the movie other than a few trailers? IIRC it’s from the same group that did Sausage Party, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the actual movie was hilarious and the trailers were meant to be an obfuscation

I feel like this is just not a book that should be made into a move. The setting and visuals just kinda clash too much with how serious the story is. It works in a book when the visuals are up to the reader, but I can’t really imagine anyone making an animated version that isn’t a bit goofy looking at best.
