This is a price display made specifically for people who don’t understand decimal fractions. In every civilized country this price would be given simply as 2.799. But for Americans it’s simpler to add a proper fraction at the end instead of having to explain to some dumb customer that no, 2.799 doesn’t mean that you need to pay 2 dollars and 799 cents for a hog’s bladder full of fuel or however much a “gallon” is.

MAGAs in 2024: “Gas is 2.79, Eggs are 4 dollars, and my grocery bill is 120 dollars a week! This is an outrage! Vote Trump!”
MAGAs in 2025: Gas is 2.70, Eggs are 8 dollars, and my grocery bill is 240 dollars a week! We’re finally winning with Trump! I saved $1.60 at the pump! Suck it libs!”

I bet the drop in gas prices have nothing to do with Qatari briberies.

This is 100% accurate.
I track the price of gas. I take a picture every time I fill up. I fill up at the same place (Costco). Gas has consistently been higher since election day. Consistently. It has never been as cheap as it was on election day.

Where the hell is gas that cheap? I’m paying $3.50.

It’s a common tactic of gas companies.
If they go and raise gas from $2 to $3 all at once, people get super pissed.
But claim some kind of crisis, raise it from $2 to $3.50 THEN drop it to $3 afterwards and people are happy that “gas prices went down”

It’s black Friday sale logic. Republicans increased gas prices so they could lower them. The suckers fall for it.

I thought it was 1.99?
And all Trump, the notorious sex trafficker, had to give up?

Tbf in this example, the $2.79 in 2025 is cheaper than the $2.79 in 2024 due to inflation. I get your point though and either way the president doesn’t have much control over the prices.

Them: Yeah, Trump inherit bad economy from Biden and he’s only 1 year in.
You: Wait, now you believe in the after affect of previous President but you were blaming Biden Economy from what Trump and COVID did to it? And also ignore that Biden brought the Economy to a peak.
Them: But, but, eggs and Turkey for Thanksgiving are much cheaper under Trump.
You: Yeah, you ignored the real cost which is Avian Flu to blame Biden but not Trump? And ignore Groceries prices are much more expensive; and completely ignore that it didn’t rise because the item count is less or the package got smaller.

Jesus. I wish prices were that low where I am. Gas is on average $3.40 a gallon here.

Where the fuck is it that cheap? Our gas+land tax only comes out to like another .75 a gallon more and we’re paying like 4.50 a gallon
To be clear, I’m comparing to the inhabited non-island parts of Alaska
