    1. translation – “I am stupider than all humans who have come before me, and man, am I rich!”

    2. Holy shit. I mean its not like humans have existed long before we even had fucking computer technology or anything.

Every day it gets worse. Every single day. Can the aliens invade us or destroy us already tf.

I don’t want to sound like a dick, but he looks like someone who can’t do basic things without AI

I asked ChatGPT how much beer was ok for my baby. It said 3oz are fine for a 4 month old.

    5. I mean as dumb as this sounds let a modern day parent who hasn’t googled something about raising a baby cast the first stone.

    6. Sam Altman: I am a brilliant genius and I intend to change the world for the better. All my ideas will lead to a better society, and infiltrate every aspect of your lives. There is absolutely nothing to worry about, nothing can possibly go wrong. Trust me bro.

Also Sam Altman: There is no possible way I could manage to participate in the single most natural thing that binds all of humanity together and that men and women have been doing together since the dawn of human history without consulting a non sentient machine to tell me how.

      We’re completely and totally fucked.

If we can listen to this and not be fucking terrified, god help us.

    7. Like, shared knowledge within communities and families. No one will need a reason to communicate any more. Idk if this guy has a Mom in his life but imagine how stoked she would have been if he asked her for advice on his newborn.

    8. I don’t know what AI they are using every single time I look up some kind of information online for something I’m working on, the AI overview on it is sorely wrong and gives me either: not the answer I needed, or just blatantly WRONG “facts”. Are they just taking whatever bullshit they make up and rolling with it and forcing it to be true?

    9. I have a masters in data science with a focus in healthcare. I’m faced daily with the paradox and contradiction of seeing the “good” AI can do and also the massive harm at the hands of unchecked corporate irresponsibility.

If it’s a net negative, is there any real ethical use of AI? Maybe not.

Personally, I’m in favor of normal people using AI to benefit their life, since it’s already being deployed for much more purely capitalist and just … dumb shit. It feels similar, imo, blaming folks for driving a gas vehicle when rich folks’ private jets fly abound.

I wouldn’t crucify a normal person for using AI to synthesize or summarizing large amounts of info, applied to the nuances of your child care situation.

Saying you couldn’t imagine raising your child without AI is wild tho.

    10. It’s honestly disgusting that this guy gets media attention like this. Like I get it, we live in a capitalist hell scape, but he is just blatantly promoting his product and people like Jimmy here are drooling over it. Sure it’s no different than promoting any product in essence, but AI like ChatGPT is still novel enough that we have no idea what its implications for the future will be. Making this kind of promotion extremely reckless.

I imagine there are parents out there spending 20+ hours a day on their phone who might occasionally look around, then pull up ChatGPT, and ask it, “Where is my baby?”

    12. Evil Gay of the Year award goes to – looks like it’s a toss up between this loser and Peter Thiel, hopefully the anti-Christ will take care of both of them.

This is really useful if you’re raising a floating baby with three arms and 18 toes.

    14. Of course Sam Altman isn’t using ChatGPT to raise his child. The nanny is doing that.

    15. My baby is 3 months old and not once have I felt the need to ask ChatGPT for help. That’s what my pediatrician and strangers on Reddit are for

    16. Well, there has been most of human history, where you really couldn’t consider it likely that your baby would survive to adulthood. I’d say that was worse.

    17. Aggressive_Trick_654 on

It takes a village to raise a child.

But the elites and the governments have been purposely dividing us and making us more individualistic, so we can’t threaten their hold on power.

    18. Some use of chatgpt is fine, like I look up some specific recipes with what I have in the fridge etc, mild stuff..but come on, for everything?
