I had a similar memory. We had to rescue a penguin who was sick and we had to carry out of the water and I used my body board for that. It wasn’t very friendly and it was clearly on its last throes, but at least we took it to a quiet place on the shore and let it rest instead of drowning and struggling in the waters.

On one side, this is a cute interaction and I would love to be that guy to have this experience but on the other side, given the location, the penguin is likely so tame and seemingly friendly because it is escaping some predator in the waters there and seeking safety 😢
