If you believe whiteness is a pure trait that disappears when diluted – that the child of a white person and a black person is black and not white – then you’ve baked the inevitability of its extinction into your definition. Which is especially ironic since the concept of whiteness already erases distinct cultural identities in favor of a nebulous shared cultural identity that nobody can even agree upon.

Besides the obvious racial division bait that it is, this kind of braindead “current trends” extrapolation has always been dumb beyond belief. If “current trends” 1900-1910 continued on forever, the entire country would be “replaced” by (not yet white) Italians in decades, and so on and so on. Migration and birth rates depend on ever changing conditions, though we currently found the trick to stop both of them in the US — destroy affordability in the short term while obliterating long term national economic prospects.

As a white person I find this obsession with melanin to be really weird…. If you’re concerned about your culture just continue to pass it down? It’s not like you cant pass your culture down to your kids if they happen to be mixed. There’s nothing about my life that can’t apply to someone with more melanin in their skin.
