      Jesus — two teaspoons of salt, in addition to what’s already in the tomato sauce and bread and possibly your leftover meat as well. Couldn’t they just add some herbs and pepper to give it some flavour? They did know about thyme and marjoram in the fifties.

    2. My mom had a meat grinder you would clamp onto the counter. I remember watching her grind the ingredients for croquettes. People don’t do that anymore.

    3. Put rice in the meatballs and you have porcupine balls. Put the meat and rice in a pepper and you have stuffed peppers. You can do stuffed cabbage too. All solid meals.
