    1. As a tech worker I had to print out a few medical documents recently so I had to dig out my old printer (a b/w brother) and hooked it up so I can print them out. I hadn’t done that in years.

    2. I had to buy a new laptop last year and was shocked that the majority of the ones I looked at already had AI built in. I don’t want fucking copilot, I just want something I can watch movies on with good storage and a working battery

Also hate the implementation of AI in search engines, glad I was able to turn it off in DDG but the fact that so many people just seem to accept whatever the AI spits out at them as fact, without even checking to see what sources it used to find that info and whether it’s at all reliable/true, pisses me the fuck off. And it scares me a bit, there’s already been a big issue with rampant misinformation absolutely everywhere and it just seems to be getting worse.

    3. I don’t want a fridge that tells me I’m out of milk (and analyzes what and when I buy and then sells that data to the highest bidder), I only want to afford the food that goes into it. I don’t want a car that parks, drives, or brakes itself (and sells all my data), I just want to afford the energy to make it go. No one really wants “smart” devices or ai except the people pushing it on us.

And while I’m on the subject, bring back physical controls, so I don’t have to take MY EYES OFF THE ROAD. And I sure as shit don’t want a subscription to keep from freezing while I drive!

    4. The sheer fact that a printer uses invisible ink to serialize anything you print should be worry enough.

    5. I use to work with a guy who was a very gifted engineer who left for SpaceX (in the early days) and walked out on the job on day one when they required biometric data for security access. They ended up giving him special accommodations because they wanted him there so badly. Fairly certain he hasn’t intentionally given a shred of personal information to the Internet with the precautions he’s taken.

    6. AI has its place but it needs to be implemented patiently and with human oversight. Wielding power without responsibility is a recipe for disaster and will keep security people like me in business for a long time.

Like the video where the guy explains how AI could pretty much take over the world with a Roomba vacuum and linking to everyone’s wifi.
