Honestly the funniest thing about this graphic is that it pretends everything we see today is the result of a single election cycle or one party being in charge. But if you zoom out 30, 40, 50 years, the pattern is basically the same as it’s always been. Massachusetts has been wealthier, more educated, and healthier for generations. Oklahoma has been poorer, less educated, and had worse health outcomes for generations. These aren’t sudden swings caused by who wins a presidential race. They’re structural differences that have been baked in for decades.
