Many believe the doors of Vault B at the Padmanabhaswamy Temple should remain sealed because of the ominous legends and curses tied to it. The temple contains six known vaults and possibly hidden chambers and its overall treasure has been estimated at around $1 trillion

Since we can’t see inside, it has been estimated at $1 billion-trillion, by me.
Yeah right!
open it
Perfect Place to steal everithing…noboby Will know
If it was actually 1 trillion, someone would have opened it
It’s all fun and games until a demon basilisk is out to get revenge on you.

I

Ehh, whats the worst that can happen. Lets crack it open.
I’ll open it as long as I can half of the trillion dollars
do they have credible sources for the ominous curses or they just some neighborhood gossip?
Many believe !!?
Why didn’t the brits take it?
Don’t let the Louvre heist team hear about this one.
“What we’re going to do is steal all the treasure and then tell everyone that if you open the doors you’ll let the demons out. As long as people keep believing in demons they’ll never know we stole the loot.”
With the amount of local corruption present in the sub-continent I’d be surprised if the loot was still there (better not look eh, dangerous things could happen etc etc)

I bet there’s mad loot in there. But one trillion? Doubtful.
Did you know that it takes 33,000 years to count to a trillion. I always found it hard to picture a trillion until I knew that. It takes around a week and a half to count to a million.
If there were treasure worth a trillion in there, someone would have tunneled into it by now.
The real fact is, five of the temple’s doors have been opened showcasing insane amount of gold.
I can guarantee you this: no matter how ornate it is, no matter what value of treasure was put into it, the British already stole it
I’ve been in there. There is a TV guide from March 7, 1973 with Lee Majors on the cover, and a ThighMaster.
For everyone thinking $1 Trillion is a *huge* exaggeration…
The first 5 of the 6 vaults were opened in 2011, and it was the largest treasure discovery in all of written history, globally. No exaggeration. Thousands of years of treasure accumulation.
Maybe not quite $1 Trillion but easily billions worth in gold alone. Doesn’t include historic value. Wouldn’t be too crazy to think it could hit $1T

Where’s Geraldo when you need him?
I’m returning this coin to you. Must of dropped it in the car.
Like Al Capone’s vault

Get Geraldo Rivera to open it
When you open it and there’s a single crumbled note that says I.O.U
I’m willing to bet its been already pillaged some time ago like the al capone vault was.
Is the curse only activated when the doors are opened? If so just take out the back wall.
Hell, I’ll go and open the vault since curses aren’t real. I’ll only take a commission of 1/4 of the value of the contents, and donate 3/4 of that to feed hungry families starting with those in Kerala, India.
Reminds me of GOT show with the dude who claimed all the riches and wealth locked behind a vault… which was empty.
I’m not afraid of curses. I’ll open it for half of what’s in there.
Someone probably dug a hole and has already cleaned out the place.
I’m putting together a team lads. Must be able to provide own amulet.
They were a British colony for quite some time, might want to just peak in there and check.

One *trillion* dollars!
For those of us who wonder why the Padmanabhaswamy Temple was not looted by the English…
The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala is famous for its underground chambers filled with legendary treasures. And although the British were present during the colonial era, they never looted it. This wasn’t an act of imperial courtesy, but rather a combination of historical, political, and even mystical circumstances that made the place a complicated target.
To begin with, the temple was under the protection of the Travancore Kingdom, one of the most loyal and diplomatically skilled princely states in dealing with the British. Travancore was neither rebellious nor difficult to administer, so London preferred to maintain stability through agreements rather than create tensions by looting sacred temples. The arrangement was clear: Travancore paid tribute and remained loyal, and the British allowed the kingdom to manage its internal affairs, including the temple.
Moreover, most of the treasure wasn’t on display. It was hidden in sealed vaults that had been closed for centuries, and only the royal family and the priests truly knew what was inside. From the British point of view, an invisible treasure, protected by strict religious rituals and lacking a clear inventory, wasn’t the easiest prey. Opening those chambers would have meant directly interfering with deeply rooted Hindu religious practices—something that could provoke massive uprisings and undermine colonial rule in a region they already viewed as an ally and a strategic partner.
To this we can add that the Travancore monarchy had declared the kingdom symbolically belonged to the god Padmanabha. Looting the temple wouldn’t just have been unpopular—it would have been politically foolish, akin to attacking the symbolic foundation of local authority. And an empire ruling millions understood very well the risks of sparking widespread religious outrage.
Lastly, there was also a layer of mystery at play. For centuries, tales circulated claiming the vaults were protected by curses and that opening them would bring disaster. The British didn’t usually believe in such things… but they weren’t stupid either: they knew that ignoring those beliefs could ignite the region.
Altogether, it was the combination of pragmatic politics, diplomacy, indirect rule, and strategic respect for religious sensitivity that kept the temple untouched. It wasn’t due to lack of interest, but because, for the British, opening those vaults posed a far greater risk than leaving them closed.
“When they found the vaults ‘infested with cobras’ they ‘fled for their lives.'” from Wikipedia
Why haven’t the British raided it?
They don’t want anyone to go in so they don’t find out it was all looted years ago lol
WE HAVE TO WARN CAPTAIN KEYES ITS NOT THE WEAPON CACHE BUT THE FLOOD
Nothing to do with this post but I’m getting a team together for a heist. It’s about a 1 trillion dollar payday. Can’t be scared of possible curses. Hit me up if interested.
I’ll open the doors and risk the curse for 10 million.
If the temple is as old as people believe it is, any treasures would most likely have been plundered in antiquity.
Schrödingers loot
“Okay. So we captured all the demons and put them in this vault in the middle of our city. ”
“Cool, if they got out, that’d be terrible for the citizens. How do we stop people trying to get in and letting them out?”
“Just trust me on this, we start a rumor that there are riches in there that would make you the wealthiest person on the planet.”
India remains a feudal society because the brahmins who run the temples control all the land and the money and the politicians.
