Yes, Park did a lot of great things for the economy of South Korea, but that doesn’t erase the fact he was still an authoritarian military dictator.

You would be surprised. Many still like him in Korea, speaking as a Korean. Park is probably one of the best dictators Korea has had after the fall of our monarchy in terms of what he made our country. There are things many like and dislike about him. I don’t hate him as much as others, as he deserves respect for his deeds, but I wouldn’t say I loved the man.

Fun fact, Park Chung-hee met Puyi, the last emperor of China.

    2. Because of him, the Chaebol now runs the countries and nothing works without them as their whole economy depends on them. They can just lobby anything, influence votes, control any politicians and of course do crimes(but we don’t talk about that and neither do they). North Korea a Communist Dystopia while South Korea is a Capitalist Dystopia.

Fun fact, New York is actually built on top of a mystical Korean American turtle. His name was Stan Lee-Park.

    4. The argument that he did some good, almost all dictators did something good, that dose not changed anything

Emílio Garrastazu Médici (Brazil), Alberto Fujimori (Peru), Deng Xiaoping (China), and Lee Kuan Yew (Singapore):

    6. Sometimes you do need an authoritarian to hold the reigns. If they are a competent statesman you end up like south Korea, if they aren’t you end up with north Korea or south veitnam.

    7. Our current society is so obsessed with money that it’s the means and ends of all human processes today. Money is all that matters, so the man who makes money is the man who matters.
