Is it me or have the general public become less tolerating of historical inaccuracies in movies recently?

      Practicality.

Actors also often use biody movement as a form of expression, and these type of armors give them more freedom. Historically accurate armors most likely won’t.

This armor will also help it contrast with the background elements. Notice how he already stands out from the wall? (Same argument can be made with Troy).

Also, familiarity. The audience are far more familiar with Greek armor looking like that, as it has been used for decades now. Throw them a Period-accurate armor and they’ll just be confused.

    3. I don’t care that they’re not using ‘period-appropriate’ equipment. Just… Why is it always brown and gray 😭 Ridley Scott called he wants his colour grading back.

Man, I thought I was an insufferable hater, but I must admit that here on reddit I’m out matched.

Yeah idk I think you’re on this hill alone buddy. The traditional outfits would have looked goofy as fuck.

    6. I’m excited for The Odyssey just like most other straight white men in their 20’s in the US, but I hate how I’ll have to see and hear arguments about for a year before it even comes out

Why is Chris Hemsworth playing as a Greek soldier, shouldn’t he be Thor or something?

    8. Every pic from it has less color than the last. And they have the gall to brag about shooting in IMAX. Who gives a fuck how big it is if there’s nothing interesting to look at.

Its set in the Mediterranean and I dont think I’ve seen the color blue in any promotional material.

    9. Its a fictional movie based on a fictional account of a fictional event. Man could have worn a sheep fursuit the entire movie and it would be accurate on the “escaping Polyphemus” recounting

The thing is, historical armour probably wouldn’t be accurate to the story of the iliad or the Odissey, Homer didn’t know anything abt that period’s armour iirc

If the movie is bad I’ll rag on it

If you spend more than three minutes learning about sparta, or *reality*, you’ll know 300 is crock full if shit. But its badges and stupidly awesome

Cod vanguard? Tripped and fell before hitting a fraction of its potential. So I will rag on its stupid arsenal all day everyday
