Just think, if this has been sitting long enough, there might be past notes that have been completely re-covered with new dust lol

I just saw a local news clip from Boston saying that they’re preparing to auction 70ish cars that were left at Logan with no clue why they were abandoned. So strange that this happens regularly.

If it’s been abandoned that long, someone could file a claim with the state to take ownership of it. Of course, getting a key made and then getting it out of the parking lot is going to be a whole other problem

I had a colleague who was sent to Taiwan for short term support for two weeks. It became six months. The car was left at long term parking and he had to call the airport to not tow the car. Obviously he also did not bring all the living necessities either.
I’ve read enough thriller novels to know that this is a stolen vehicle with a body in the trunk.

I know exactly where that is. I walked past that car about 2 months ago. I hope the owner is okay.

I’d bet it’s been abandoned, along with the payments, by someone who isn’t planning to come back to the US. It happens more than you’d think. There’s probably a bank or credit Union with a repo order out on it.

Many immigrants go to their home country but due to family emergency or other reasons never return. If already planned, they have sold out most of their assets, then wouldn’t bother about things that are taking too long to sell.

This reminds me of parking garages in New Orleans after Katrina.
My wife is from NOLA and was in medical school at Tulane when Katrina hit. When she returned the next year, we would see abandoned cars in parking garages all over town. Hospitals, the airport, at Tulane, etc. I always wondered how many were abandoned by people who fled NOLA and how many were owned by those killed.

Owner likely fled to another country, abandoning a car they were probably heavily indebted with.
This is not an uncommon sight at Toronto’s international airport parking. Some immigrants come to Canada to study, accrue unmanageable debt, then flee back to where they came from.

There were quite a few of these at the Sacramento airport that were left for years. I believe they belonged to people who succumbed to Covid.
