    1. Pretty sure they’re talking about takeaway disposable containers, but you probably shouldn’t microwave an actual clam either.

OP, you don’t think they’re talking about the shell for a clam do you? They’re talking about the to-go containers, not seafood

    3. Sheesh, one guy nuking his clams and leaving them there overnight ruins it for Everyone!

kidding. yah, probably plastic clamshell containers as others say (and I didn’t think of on my own)

    4. We have these exact same microwaves at work and they’re such a weird setup. No turntable and terrible hot spotting so I’m sure styrofoam would immediately burst into cancer. Also, the time setting is so dumb. You can’t set custom times and the buttons only go up to 3:30… so the solution is to press the 2x and then double the time on the button.

    5. there’s a special level in hell for those who use a public microwave to reheat seafood, and yes i know it means the styrofoam clamshell containers

      “clam shells ”
are the proper name for styrofoam to-go boxes …they will melt/catch on fire when they spend to much time in the mike ..especially a commercial mike like the one in the picture

    7. Microwaves at the right power settings can cause bivalve shellfish to overheat and explode. Clam shells are particularly susceptible to this phenomenon.

The reason is that clams create their shells from an unsual mix of calcium and their own protein. That mix is easily “set-off” by the microwaves.

      So, don’t microwave clam shells.

      The more you know.

Also, I made up all of that.
