    1. I remember reading way back when that if all mosquitoes were eliminated the impact to the ecosystem would be minor as everything that eats them typically already get the majority of their nutrition from other things.

    2. If mosquitos are considered as killing humans by infecting them with malaria, then shouldn’t all the animals that kill humans via car accidents be included as well?

I’m surprised that humans are only credited with 440,000. Murder + war + vehicle accidents (pedestrian and other vehicles) I would think much higher.

    4. It’s just a numbers game folks. There are WAY more mosquitoes than us. We are not the dominant creatures on the planet. The future war will be between cockroaches and mosquitoes.

    5. Wasn’t expecting to see snakes that high up. I guess anti-venom is still very scarce in many rural parts of the world. I can imagine south-east Asia and Africa being the places a lot of these casualties come from

    6. It’s always the smallest things. We’re bigger than Godzilla to them but they still take us out.

    7. 10 doesn’t sound right for wolves. From 2002-2020 there were 25 deaths caused by wolves worldwide and 14 of those the person died from rabies infection. Wolf attacks are incredibly rare. There are only two fatal wolf attacks in North America in the last 20 years.

      This list is horseshit.

Wolves don’t kill that amount, there is something like 20 from 2000 until now documented elsewhere, with most being incidents with rabies.

35,000 deaths by dogs???? this is crap.

    9. 100k a year from snakes?? I have no basis for this whatsoever but that feels way too high. Some others seem off too but that one really jumps out to me

    10. Feel like that human one should be higher, especially with all the wars and genocides the 🧃 create

    11. This is ridiculous considering that virtually all of the “deaths caused by mosquitoes” are by disease transmitted by mosquitoes. By this logic you should include deaths caused by disease transmitted by people in the deaths by people count, as well as other deaths caused by humans besides the 400k figure for homocide, such as vehicular manslaughter/ road deaths, suicide, and armed conflict.

This could be made more interesting if made relative to the total number of said animal.

There are about 110 trillion mosquitoes, therefore 700 million mosquitoes per human killed.

There are about 2 billion sharks, therefore 300 million sharks per human killed.

      Therefore sharks more deadly, kinda!
