The person in the Pooh costume is most likely a 5’0″ female who is equally obsessed with Disney

Listen, I get being a fan. I do. But if I ever start losing my mind at a guy making minimum wage in a foam suit, please unplug me from the simulation.

At what point does this become cringe as fuck? I can understand if it were a kid but it’s a grown as lady…

    4. Sometimes it feels like Disney theme parks are just hands off mental asylums. I want to believe this is purely for the content but the amount of similar examples I’ve seen of grown adults reacting to another grown adult in a suit and talking to them as if they’re the character makes me think otherwise

    5. It reminds me of when I was like 11 years old and my dad had a store, He was trying to get more customers during Easter. So he stuck me in a bunny costume out front to greet people, but it was crazy hot that day. I’ll never forget how miserable it was. And the inside was super fuzzy so I kept just inhaling costume fuzz.

    6. I had to get one of those costumes before. It was for a restaurant promotion. They’re actually pretty roomy and you don’t get overheated.

The material is designed for human use

    7. I was hello Kitty…I was the only one in the store tall enough to wear the costume. This is 1000% exactly how it was. Drenched in sweat after 20min.

    8. $5? Disney park actors get between $22 and $28 per hour depending on role, with “face” actors getting more. Also, full time workers get good healthcare benefits and retirement options and PTO. All workers, full and part time get free park access and guest passes. They also have access to educational benefits such as grants and work programs. It’s a hard job and not what I’d call cushy, but for someone starting out it’s a hell of a good start. (Source: My best friend worked as a Goofy/ Clarabell/ Horace Horsecollar while in college.)

    9. This isn’t funny – they make way more than 5 an hour. The costume characters are some of the best paid and treated employees – and they love their jobs.

    10. Man, I’ve been one of these costumed characters at a big-ish amusement park chain. My experience was a small sample size, but the two most common reactions to them from people over the age of 12 are some variation of this video, and straight up abuse. The only reasonable reactions, I found, were a barely acknowledging smile and nod from a distance, or just being ignored altogether. It was almost a rare exception to have an interaction where someone calmly asks for a picture in a polite, brief interaction. I can only imagine what it’s like at Disney parks.

    11. Don’t hate, too much. Plenty of people can lose their minds seeing their favorite character “brought to life”.

I go to a fair number of conventions, and the number of men and women that look totally normal when they meet my full-size R2-D2 that can move around and beep/whistle… It’s more than you’d expect. Some are so literally speechless, I just think they’re playing it “cool.” but they’re overwhelmed.

    12. As a former bear mascot for a discount used car dealer it’s not really that bad chilliest job I ever had

    13. This made me LOL and snort. And as someone who sweats in 50 degree weather I can relate!

She’s mental but I like the way she says Pooh 🙂
