    1. There was never a reason for ABC to take him off the air anyway. They should have told Nexstar and Sinclair to shove it.

ABC could have aired his show on ABC owned stations and their Disney+ streaming service.

    2. Theharlotnextdoor on

It’s about to get even funnier cause I don’t know anyone who canceled who plans on renewing and now they’ll surely lose some right wing subs who are mad they “gave in to the woke mob”.

    3. As someone who follows markets, this is definitely unrelated.

This is extremely low volatility for making that kind of connection.

I even opened up the chart. It went up $1 then lost 50 cents in the proceeding hours.

    4. I for one am very surprised they reversed. 4% drop is a hiccup with a price tag; soon the goldfish memory of humanity resets, the outrage evaporates, and a fresh sparkly bauble trains the herd.

    5. That’s over 5 days and doesn’t show the overall growth/loss. Disney has a market share of $250b and in any given month span will gain or lose a few billion. The investors are not scared by this. Cancelling your Disney sub scription might make you feel good but Disney+ is not the major driver of Disney profits. As Disney owns ESPN hulu abc the list goes on and on. If you want to hurt Disney you would need to stop watching everything on TV at this point. As most other companies rent IPs off Disney. However crazier shit has happened ymmv

    6. Jimmy hopefully now knows that he’s unfirable and can say whatever he wants, and the people will support him

    7. Does anyone know where my Maga(t) friend is getting their empirical knowledge that Colbert and Kimmel have been losing money for years and that this cancellation was because of funding for the show and not due to administrative pressure.

Cause I’d like a simple citation to tell him to stfu and stop being a puppet.

    8. To those (like me) who cancelled subscriptions and told them why: I recommend you DO NOT renew your subscription after they re-instate him. Doing so will desensitize Disney, Hulu, etc for the next time.

Kimmel can go to another network, and I hope he does. If he’s smart, he will.

Tl;dr: they blew it…like for eternity blew it.

    9. I was informed that this wasn’t even good enough to qualify as a dip to buy. That a 7 billion dollar devaluation of your market cap is pocket change.

    10. I’d go so far as to say the stock price probably didn’t reflect just how much money they were going to be losing. The last thing any streaming service wants is fewer subscribers every quarter.
