The statue was seized during a sting operation by the Iranian police, targeting antiquities trafficking. The Police arrested two individuals who had smuggled the statue with the intent to sell it on the black market. It was seized before it could be sold. Initial reports estimate the statue to be about 2,000 years old, placing it roughly in the Parthian period (247 BC–224 AD).

The statue, made of bronze, was being smuggled from Khuzestan to Tehran and offered for sale by antiquities dealers. As of now, we don’t yet have further details about this statue, such as its height, possible inscriptions, or decorative elements. Experts are currently conducting analysis to determine its exact date, identity and details.
