This is a really cool thing to have.

I’m not judging here, but his handwriting strikes me as very child-like, like mine would be as a non-native speaker and writer.

That is an amazing artifact! Artifacts like these that tell the real story of regular people in a particular time and place are the absolute best glimpse into the past that we have.
