“Why aren’t smart people conservative?”
Edit: Added quotation marks so the tone of my statement conveys better. It’s not a genuine question.
Edit 2: Academics are a combination of smart/passionate/not-money-oriented, since academia will give you a stable middle-class existence, but won’t bring you higher, so it’s an odd case. There are plenty of intelligent evil people in other fields that are conservative, just like by being the rare conservative academic, you can make a lot of money as a pundit instead of staying in academia.

I mean it takes pretty advanced critical thinking skills to get a PhD to teach at a university so it’s quite the self own
Here’s the real answer. Conservatives go to college too. But they care more about money and being wealthy. The successful ones use their education to enrich themselves because that matters more to them than educational status or helping the greater good. Even the best paid college professor can’t hold a candle to a newbie stock broker’s income.
It’s really that simple.

Smart conservatives go into the private sector or politics to make real money instead of going into academia where there’s a lower ceiling in earning potential

As a side note. There are conservative professors.
Hell, my political science teacher was conservative and he was absolutely amazing. He did an amazing job teaching the class and it was ironic that he got me into politics and down the track of my leftism.
But knowing him.
Hes just happy I got involved in the first place.

It’s really simple, we don’t pay teachers spit. They do for the love of the people and the job itself. Conservatives hate people and won’t do these types of jobs.

I think it’s a good reason to call for more [scholarships for people in poorer neighbourhoods](https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/07/12/demographic-profiles-of-republican-and-democratic-voters/), and normally I’d say that should be for everyone in poor neighbourhoods, but I don’t know if this administration is prepared to invest in people like that.
