The Terror of War, also known as Napalm Girl, is a photograph taken on 8 June 1972. It features a naked 9-year-old girl, Phan Thi Kim Phuc, running toward the camera from a South Vietnamese napalm strike that mistakenly hit Trảng Bàng village instead of nearby North Vietnamese troops. [1817×1078]

    1. It should be noted that she ran towards US and South Vietnamese troops for help despite being in the conflict zone ( AKA she could have run towards the North Vietnamese forces if she wanted to). Later on, despite receiving an extraordinary amount of privileges as a propaganda poster girl by the communist government, she defected to the West while being sent to Eastern Europe to attend university there.

    2. I haven’t seen this image since high school, I distinctly remember the child’s face on the left. It was haunting to teenage me, and still haunts me to this day, decades later.

Humans really can be fucking awful to each other.

    3. I feel that some things, like naked little girls. Children in general. Should never be posted on reddit.

I am not saying it’s not important to remember her struggle, but this can be used by sick human beings for an agenda that doesn’t equate to “history”
