    1. He gives them permission to be an asshole, which is all they ever meant by things like “freedom” and “tyranny.”

    2. Regardless of context: Red team good; blue team bad. They’ve always played by the rules of “heads I win, tails you lose”

    3. Nothing. Sex scandal was enough to impeach a *democratic* president, and still is. Rules don’t apply to the GOP

Oh you don’t get it Sir. He’s our list-of-defects guy; now if he’d been your guy, then well.. all of ya’ll must be into the same shit and should all be in prison!

It’s not that it’s not enough to impeach. It is that it IS enough to re-elect. That’s how fucked up the GOP is.

Nothing changed. They never actually cared about Clinton’s blowjobs. Republicans don’t act or argue in good faith. They have been deliberately trying to sabotage the government for over 50 years. Their plan is to convince idiots that government doesn’t work, by breaking it intentionally.

    7. Nothing has changed. If a *democrat* president had done any one of those things, Republicans and Democrats would vote to impeach.

    8. Trump has also destroyed our friendships and alliances with other nations. He threatens and insults every one of our trading partners.

In addition, the value of the U.S. dollar has plummeted over 10% since Trump was elected.

Get rid of this arrogant and incompetent clown.

    9. If we do not gut the republican party the next time we get put in charge, its never gonna start to heal.

Republicans in 1998: Whatever we can do to get you out of office.

Republicans in 2025: Whatever it takes to keep him in office. (And keep you out)

Crazy that we’re less than 50 years removed from Jimmy Carter having to put his peanut farm into a blind trust to dispel concerns of any conflict of interest.

The corruption; incompetence; and downright heinous, bigoted, and otherwise fucked up behavior from this administration should be nothing short of appalling to every American.

    12. The Republican party no longer even fakes to be representing the constitution and best interest of the country.

They should be tried for treason by failing their constitutional oaths in letting a despot take over

He was allowed to be the president again after already being impeached twice during his first term. It doesn’t mean anything.

    14. Someone said something back then about a “vast, rightwing conspiracy” and they were correct, but got mocked to the sun and back for it. (Same person later said a third of Turnip’s fanbase were “deplorable,” but three-thirds of them took that as a badge of honor.)

    15. Nothing. At the time the votes against impeachment were heavily along party lines. Why would anyone expect the Republicans to be different than the Democrats when it comes to defending there own against nearly any indictment? Hypocrisy is a given and should be expected as a matter of course.

In 1994, Bill Clinton appointed an independent counsel to look into a bullshit conspiracy about a real estate deal in Arkansas regarding the Clintons. That counsel was named Ken Starr. He couldn’t find any dirt there, so he instead abducted a White House intern under false pretenses from the mall and got her to acknowledge her affair with the president under duress. He went on to ruin her life to try to smear Clinton and get him on perjury. Though none of that changes the fact that what Clinton did with and to Lewinsky WAS wrong and awful.

After Clinton’s impeachment, Starr just moved on and continued practicing the law. One of his biggest clients? Jeffrey Epstein.

    17. > What changes

Answer: one side got their asses handed to them one time by a black guy and decided it was better to cheat and win than play fair. All the rules, norms, and logic goes out the damned window when power is the only thing that matters.

The party has been feckless for a long time (note that Newt Gingrich was cheating on his wife during the Clinton trials).

They’ve just been waiting for the king of all feck heads to lead them the rest of the way to the bottom.

    19. Republicans were just as hypocritical in the 80’s and 90’s. They nominated and confirmed Clarance Thomas before the whole Clinton thing. The *only* thing Republicans have cared about since Newt Gingrich had been getting into and keeping power. Lying, stealing, cheating, it’s all just in the aim of political power.
