Illyrian Vače Belt-Plate; from the Hallstatt Archaeological Site in Vače, Slovenia. ca 5th Century BC. A Swastika is engraved on the hind leg of the left horse. [3888×1356]
The Vače Belt-Plate was found at an Iron Age Illyrian settlement in the Eastern Hallstatt zone. The relief depicts warriors in battle.
The swastika is seen on several Illyrian gravestones in the Balkans. Sometimes they are more ’rounded’ and appear circular, but they always appear in a clock-wise orientation.
Illyrian and Celtic contact was extensive in this region. I would love to hear more if anyone has anything to offer.

Wonder what this material this is. Silver? And alloy?
Also, at first I thought they were jousting, but it looks like they’re throwing spears at each other, judging by the mid-air spears.
