The change in my energy has been insane. I went from needing a nap every afternoon to having steady, consistent energy all day long.
The hardest Things to cut out
My Morning Coffee: I used to load it with flavored creamer, which is basically just sugar syrup. The first few days of black coffee were rough.
The Swap: Now I use a splash of unsweetened almond milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It’s creamy, tastes amazing, and has zero sugar.
"Healthy" Snacks: My go-to was granola bars. I was really shocked when I read the label and saw how much sugar was packed in there.
The Swap: A handful of almonds and an apple. It gives me actual energy instead of a spike and crash.
Late-Night Cravings: My biggest weakness was a bowl of ice cream before bed.
The Swap: A bowl of Greek yogurt with some fresh berries. It satisfies the craving for something creamy and sweet without messing up my progress.
When a craving hits, taking just a few minutes to breathe helps me realize I'm probably just stressed or bored, not actually hungry.
And here’s the thing that really hit me: it’s not just about the sugar itself, it’s about how much we’re being pushed toward it every single day. Advertisers know exactly how to wear us down. They design ads and packaging to hit us at our weakest moments, and it’s no coincidence that low-income neighborhoods and minorities are targeted more aggressively by companies like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and fast-food giants. It’s basically social engineering, nudging us into behaviors that keep the consumer machine running while wrecking our health.
It’s crazy how tackling one habit has led to a complete shift in my well-being.

I know berries have natural sugar, my main goal was to cut out added/artificial sugar. Should’ve added that.
Edit: It’s also so wild how the standard American breakfast is basically just sugar on sugar, cereal, muffins, OJ
Keep going my guy. I am extremely low sugar intake as well, completely cutting it out is extremely commendable. How you feeling? I lost 20 literally just switching to black coffee and water only, and walking a half mile at work a day.
I got diagnosed with type 1 (the genetic kind) diabetes at age 35. That was two years ago and despite reducing my sugar/carb intake dramatically I actually think I feel worse than I used to lol
Crazy man !! Huge congrats!! It’s insane how sugar spikes dopamine like a drug, then leaves you crashing and craving more.
Sugar is an insidious substance the way we like to consume it, and so many people would benefit from trying to limit their intake to more natural sources like fruit instead of mainlining 100 grams at a time multiple times a day
