Legrain’s work is so cool. He also designed furniture, house accessories, etc. The NYPL sells [replicas of his bookbinding designs](https://shop.nypl.org/products/softcover-moutarde-journal).
That looks to be all one piece of leather that’s been stamped, tooled and painted expertly btw. If you look closely you’ll see the grain is consistent, quite impressive work and frankly would probably be considered progressive by today’s standards
