My husband’s family lives in a small village not too far away, and one day his great uncle just dumped a bag of pre-columbian beads (most of a whole necklace) small carved figures (a coyote or dog and I think a jaguar) and various potshards he’s turned up while tilling the fields. And it was like no big deal to him, because everyone’s forever turning up stuff like that. My attempt to be very chill and cool about it was not even a little successful.
