2,500-year-old golden Acinaces in perfect conditions, one of the very few remaining swords from the Achaemenid Empire. Related to the time of Darius the Great (522–486 BC), it was discovered in Ecbatana and is housed at the National Museum of Iran. [1000×667]

Considering its thinness and hence its fragility, the sword was likely a ceremonial weapon or an royal offering, rather than a weapon of war.
Ecbatana is a great sounding name.
