      Oh those blades are just gorgeous! Not too familiar with sabre typologies outside of East Asian ones, but I wish I could get a closer look

      Interesting, you’d think they’d be exporting dog/flintlock mechanisms, and not swords. Although I guess it makes sense to export weapons to colonies that aren’t as good as what’s in your armories.

      Also fascinating that the sailors themselves were speculated to be trading privately, given the large amount of older coins found along the Spanish reals and bars. Makes me wonder how often expeditions like this were, at least in part, crowd-funded by the sailors.
