A Roman denarius minted around 76 AD to commemorate the rebuilding of the Temple of Jupiter. The reverse on this coin may have been defaced by someone who was unhappy about this event. Strangely enough, the temple burned down less than five years later. [1000×495]

I picked this up from Romae Aeternae Numismatics on [VCoins.com](http://vcoins.com/) for $115.
The reason why I believe the reverse on this coin may have been defaced is because there are no scratches on the face or torso of Jupiter, which is likely due to wear. This tells me that those scratches are likely original and didn’t happen during the cleaning process.
The Temple of Jupiter was built on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem?
