Archeologists in central France have just announced the discovery of a vast ancient necropolis where at least 100 people were buried 2,300 years ago alongside a trove of artifacts, including this stunningly intact Celtic sword that was found in its scabbard [1080×889]

And you see that first picture? That’s called context, that’s what help people building databases about that kind of artifacts to better understand them and their societies.

(well obviously, that one picture is just part of it, there are other pictures with names and date, scale, various plans and measures in the report…)

That’s the thing people aren’t supposed to destroy with reckless digs 😀 Because wtf are we supposed to do with the dagger alone.

I love this find, it’s kinda like our own “german perfectly preserved sword” they found last year, but smaller.
