In 1936, a large deposit of silver vessels, chains, silver and gold ingots, jewelry, and lapis lazuli pieces, was found under the Montu temple at el-Tod, in Egypt. The objects were carefully arranged in layers in 4 copper-alloy chests inscribed for King Amenemhat II. 1915-1885 BCE [1207×1500]

The objects were madeĀ outside of Egypt, in Crete, Anatolia, and other areas of the Near East.
The treasure is now divided between the Louvre Museum and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
