Bhuj (battle axe) with elephant head decoration. India, around 1800 [4150×4000]

That engraving is amazing the detail and sense of depth in the artwork is just blowing my mind.

I notice a little hole in the elephant head, I wonder if it would have had something hanging from it like the tassel on the elephants ear.

I bet this was jaw dropping in its day, I mean it for sure is today too, but my imagination is kinda running wild thinking about how the guy this was made for might have used it and what that would have looked like to face.

I’m sensing an incoming rabbit hole about Bhuj and how they were used.
