Falcon from India, probably Jaipur. Carved rubies, emeralds, sapphires, onyx, gold and enamel. Exhibited in the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, Qatar.
Made of pure gold, weight 6 kg!
It is thought that this 10 inch falcon is from the Mughal Empire made for the Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal emperor whose reign marked the zenith of Mughal architectural and cultural achievements. The falcon is on display in Doha’s Museum of Islamic Art.
