Reading through all of it, Imane Khelif has a hormonal imbalance. she’s cis.
You transphobic shitheads really need to read before spewing nonsense, I swear.
Algeria, it’s illegal to be gay or trans, why in the hell would they put a trans woman in the olympics? for christ’s sake.
Edit: she has XY Chromosomes but they can literally happen in cis women.
chewwydraper on
This isn’t a trans person, it’s a cis woman with a hormonal imbalance. I don’t know, I think complaining about her competing would be like complaining that Shaq has a physical advantage over most other basketball players. It’s the genetic lottery.

I’m italian and that was a bit embarassing
She didn’t even try, looked like she got so conditioned by the controversy that in her mind she had already lost.
As soon as she got a good punch she was done

Imane has been beaten before by other women in championship games. Angela couldn’t handle the hits.

I couldn’t imagine putting in so much time and effort for a large portion of my life to then have it spat on world wide because of a genetic abnormality. I also see how shitty it is to others who will never have her level of strength no matter what training they have. Sometimes shit isn’t fair when you’re pooling the best world wide. Some are just bone stronger. Smarter, taller, thinner, healthier etc.
RevelationsXDR2 on
If her advantage is all natural then what the fuck is the problem? She’s not even trans! What next, are we going to get players bitching that they need to go up against other genetic freaks like Giannis or Shaq?

The weirdest part is people getting upset about this after the fight, as if the winner didn’t already pass the Olympic qualifications to compete in this sport and category. If the Olympics set a bar for entry, and the competitor passes that standard, and you agree to fight them, then there’s absolutely no valid complaint.

Conservatives in 2-button meme now:
* she was born with vagina so must compete with women
* biological sex doesn’t matter and she is a man now

It seems that there is a good percentage of the population that do not believe there are intersex people, and that any woman with high T levels or XY chromosomes did it intentionally with a procedure.
I’m not one to use this term often, but this is the transphobia panic that conservative outlets like Fox News is pushing being that they don’t have actual policies to run on.

Showing one punch and not the full 46 seconds is creating a shit narrative that she gave up after 5 seconds which is not what happened.

Why the fuck does the title say she quits after a few min when it’s actually close to 30 secs

“There is no suggestion Khelif has done anything wrong. She is not known to have cheated by doping with testosterone, which is a naturally occurring hormone which both men and women produce. Boxers, need it be said, are supposed to punch each other very hard.
Nor is Khelif transgender. Unusually, she is reported to have XY sex chromosomes — most women have XX sex chromosomes — but Khelif was born female”.
From politico. Just looked into this some and y’all need to learn what a fucking trans person is lmao.

Before anyone says anything, she’s not trans. She was born with a vagina, identifies as a woman, and is a woman. She just higher testosterone.

So if I understand correctly, she has more T due to the XY Chromosome, but she didn’t grow with with actual testicles for the body to take full advantage of this. So in the end, would you say she might be too strong for women and not enough for men?

Per a statement by Angela. She stopped the fight due to extreme pain in her nose.
Are there weight classes for Olympic boxing or what? Why is there such a size discrepancy?

Are there not weight classes in Olympic boxing? I understand people can have different cuts to make weight, but still both fighter should be within a reasonable margin regardless of whatever else is going on shouldn’t they?

I am confused as to why they are in the same weight class? Is there no middleweight or heavyweight division for women? Khelif looks to have at least a foot in height and probably a foot in reach on Carini.

Ok…Gonna try to get my opinion out without getting into trouble here…
The woman with the “XY” pair has a lower testosterone level than an “XY” pair man…
But a higher testosterone level than an “XX” pair woman…
This means that with an equivalent amount of training and exercise the XY woman will build more muscle mass and strength than an “XX” woman…
If an “XX” woman tested at the “XY” woman’s testosterone level she’d be DQ’ed for doping…
The “XY” woman is allowed at this higher testosterone level because it is normal for her…
So here it comes…
IMHO either the “XY” woman should have to take some type of testosterone blocking treatment before a competition so that at contest time her testosterone level and an “XX” woman’s are about the same, OR both “XX” and “XY” women should be allowed to compete at the “XY” woman’s testosterone level.
I am not “Anti” anything or anyone…I just love boxing and I want to see fair fights.

A single unknown test administered by the IBA (which had its status stripped by the IOC) found the presence of a Y chromosome in Khelif. Here are four possible explanations:
1. The IBA lied
2. The test returned an erroneous result
3. Swyer syndrome results in women with XY chromosomes. The SRY gene on the Y chromosome is sex determining and in this case it’s deactivated, leading to the person being phenotypically female (i.e. they are born with female genitals) and thus a biological woman.
4. Chimerism such as absorbing a male twin in the womb
In all situations, Khelif is phenotypically female and thus should be understood as female.

Ok…Gonna try to get my opinion out without getting into trouble here…
They are BOTH “Women”…
Imane Khelif is NOT “Transgender”…[That kind of thing is not allowed in her Country](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Algeria)…
The woman in red was born with either [“Swyer” or “Morris”](https://novonordiskfonden.dk/en/news/more-women-than-expected-are-genetically-men/) syndrome which means even though she is female she has an “XY” chromosome pair rather than an “XX” pair which is what is found in most women…
The woman with the “XY” pair has a lower testosterone level than an “XY” pair man…
But a higher testosterone level than an “XX” pair woman…
