Taxes have never only gone up for rich people. The middle class is disproportionately affected by them. Raising taxes on the middle class is necessary to get any significant increase in tax revenues simply because there isn’t enough rich people to make much of a dent.

Yep. And the income tax was originally only for top 1%. Anyone with common sense knows the taxes will hit us common folk eventually. They just sell it to the suckers first, then later roll it out on everyone.

Fun fact: income taxes started with only taxing the super rich. Then it was slowly rewritten to include the rest of us, so I don’t trust any new tax for the super rich who know how to already get around taxes

The government already spends 6.8 **trillion** a year. There’s no way that’s not enough. Raising taxes isn’t the solution, and who those taxes would be raised on is totally irrelevant.
