So if I was time travelling back to 1066, would they understand anything I said?

      >He norissed me

If someone said that to me I’d honestly think they were telling me they’d been sodomised

The change from old English to Middle English is the most drastic. Why is that?

    4. Old English reminds me of Welsh… Not exactly because they are very different but it reminds me of it in the way old English and modern Welsh are both very medieval

    5. Would middle and old english be considered different languages, rather than drift in terminology and spelling?

      Current English (2024-2024)

Yo yo, Jesus my man! We good!?

      Le’mme check this weed.

      Shit’s drippin’, yo

    7. You forgot 2024.

Lord be my bro yo, I ain’t need nothing.

Dude lets me chillout on dank grass.

He be a real hydro homie.

    8. I feel like the “setting me in green pastures” part was originally supposed to be giving thanks for good land to farm, and over time morphed into being thankful for a nice nap in the grass.

But the rest of the Bible’s intent and meaning probably stayed pretty steady over the years, right guys?

    9. There’s a chapter in the book “Ulysses” by James Joyce, that progresses from old english to modern english as you read.

    10. I really dislike one user stealing content from another user. 7 hours prior a different user posted the same image that this person did to the same subreddit. It’s done for karma and a lack of creativity on their part. It’s also plagiarism and it’s a shame. At least give credit to the user you did steal from. That wipes away 99% of the issues…leaving lack of creativity. But at least you’re not an AH anymore if you had done so.
