    1. Context: this happened a few years ago, the one night I forgot to bring insect repellent to the mountain park in my city and the mosquitos were ruthless.

A couple tiger mosquito bites fused together. It stayed like this, a hot, rigid plateau of enraged flesh the size of my hand for about a week.

Skeeter Syndrome it’s called. Relatively common in kids, not so much in adults. Happened to me too recently. Not much you can do besides use anti itch cream and pop a hayfever/antihistamine tablet when needed. If it is insufferable, the doc can prescribe steroid cream for it.

    3. I had a bite that size on my thigh when I was around 10yo. Luckily any mosquito bites I get now as an adult don’t grow this big anymore (about the size of a quarter now) but they turn rock hard, hot and bruise really bad all while being so itchy, they sting.

    4. I still have small dot scars from mosquito bites I got while canoeing as a kid

    5. I react badly to Mosquito bites, nothing like this. The last bite that even resembled that was infected. But with my bites, it is hard to know the difference. I mean infected or not, inflammation, extremely hot skin, itchiness, etc.

I let it go a week before people in work ordered me out of the building to see a doctor. Turns out it was infected, if it got any worse, straight to hospital. Luckily it only took 24 hours on antibiotics before the redness went away, and by the time I had finished the course of two different antibiotics it was more or less back to normal.

I fucking hate Mosquitoes. For anyone who gets bitten like crazy, DEET is a miracle. I MTB a lot, so spend a lot of time in the woods. DEET if you cover every inch of your body turns about 10-15 bites in a day into zero. Maybe one if you miss a spot.

    6. I’ve had some nasty mosquito bites when I visited in-laws on Long Island. I’m on an anticoagulant, so I bruised pretty bad from the bites.

My wife had a similar reaction when we lived down south. Turns out she was allergic to whatever breed of mosquito that was. Benadryl helps

That used to happen to me too as a kid, not so much as an adult thankfully

When i moved to las vegas out of Illinois, i didnt get bit very often at most 3 times a year. When they bit though, they swelled up about twice the size of normal mosquito bites and they otched like crazy for almost 2 weeks. I thought that i became super allergic to .mosquito bites as I got older/ rarely got bit. Then I moved back to the Midwest and the squeeter bits like I used to have them. No larger than a pin head and itchy for an hour then I could generally ignore them

    10. My mosquito bits reqct like this fairly often. I’ll have soft all size lumps that are hard and hot to the touch and are miserably itchy. It’s been that way my whole life

    11. Please look up the Bug Bite Thingy. It’s at Walmart too now. I have had these issues for a long time. The bug bite thingy is the best relief Ive found. I prefer it to repellent now as well. But that’s cuz I hate chemicals like that on my skin. Either way, it’s worth a look.
