The judge’s rational, I shit you not, was that even though the State Constitution bans partisan gerrymandering and the Republican aide that drew the map admitted to relying on partisan voting data to do so, there was no way of knowing whether he had partisan intentions in his heart when actually drawing the lines.

Republican politicians in “judicial” robes are committing treason against the country and constitution out in the open while an all-Democratic government in Virginia can’t respond and just rolls over after Republican judges throw similar nonsense at them over there. Nationwide suicide via unofficial norms and decorum that the other side stopped following years and years ago.

When they learn to read down there, they’re going to love Old Yeller.

    3. But remember, Virginia, the state that took a vote asking for approval to temporarily gerrymander maps, was breaking the law apparently

    4. Another Republican led state. Another non-voted, ideological gerrymandered map.

Meanwhile, Republicans judges in Democratic states vote against citizen approved ideological gerrymandered maps. What a stupid system we have.

    5. Wake me up when the left starts voting like they care about what the court does.

it’s been 40 years of far-right Republicans being the only people that give a shit

    6. Isn’t it funny how all these Republican-appointed judges bend over backwards to allow gerrymandering that favors the people who empowered them while banning gerrymandering that favors their political opposition? It’s almost like they’re doing it on purpose or something and don’t care even a little bit about the actual Constitution or the will of voters.

    7. Ill say it before and say it again. For gerrymandering to work you gotta cut it close in a lot of places. Winning by 2-3%. They are using data from the last elections. trumps favorability has dropped 20% since then. You even moderately get out the vote for Dems in these areas with a normal depression midterms get and the extra stay at home due to the added dislike of him those 2-3% wins become just a Crap ton of losses. VOTING MATTERS. those razor thin margins are gonna be his undoing in so many states. The Dem candidate for Gov in Texas is gonna draw Tons of ppl to the polls, If he starts pushing get out to vote, every vote counts its gonna go nuts there. Hes leading now. In florida latino vote is really really feeling sold out by trump. I don’t see them pushing that same way again. Every Vote Matters. And voting for those that dont say let bygones be bygones we need to move forward together kinda shit. Decisions like these fly in the face of what it means to be American and have my vote and voice heard. This judge doesnt think he will be held to answer for this decision. We need to put people in power who will say rulings like this make this judge not suited for the bench.

    8. Of COURSE they did!

Only fools and idiots(cultists not listed separately because those two encompass them) still believe anyone associated with the RNC gives a damn about anyone but their biggest doners.

    9. not shock, one election they gerrymandered a majority black district out and the judge in that said “yeah it’s wrong but the election is so close they can keep the map”. the law doesn’t mean anything with these people and never has.

And ya’ll think democracy actually works…

Well it does, when laws are respected.

    11. Like I said…GOP will not give up power. Rules don’t apply if they don’t like them.

No way! Somebody should look into this! This doesn’t feel like it’s on the up and up! America is a land of freedom! But also of laws! I’m thinking some of these folks think they’re free from laws?

I know that the governor will get to the bottom of this. Even take it to the Supreme Court if necessary! I’m sure this will just be a one off. Right? No way the republicans would go for the nuke and finish gerrymandering what they had left? I mean, the map’s already squooze dry! They barely have anything left to gerrymander!

So it’s not legal, and the judge either needs to pull back on his decision or be dragged out of his court room

    14. Chuck D told you and no one listened.

These days you can’t see who’s in cahoots
Cause now the KKK wears three-piece suits

    15. MjolnirPants on

They should appeal it to the state supreme court. It ain’t exactly packed with liberal judges, but at least they’re not batshit lunatics like the rest of these clowns. Well, overall, they’re not. Some of those justices…

    16. Bee-Aromatic on

You can’t even have States’ Rights when they’re happening inside the states by the people of those states? I don’t think even Calvinball is this inconsistent.

    17. TheBadBatch-99 on

Sue him and the judge into oblivion. Recall elections. Fucking something.

Respect the will of the people.

    18. UncommittedBow on

So, legit, are we just fucked? Is this it? Because this keeps happening and I dont see any point in being hopeful anymore.

    19. Are there any non-partisan reasons for altering a voting map in an irregular year for redistricting?

    20. maniacreturns on

Republicans have had total unbroken control of all three branches of government in Florida for 30 years.

30 years and not a single thing has improved for Floridians.
