I’ve had about 25 bouts of cellulitis in my legs over the years. If you don’t catch it early, that shit can get wildly out of control. I’ve had them trace it before to see if its growing. Glad you got better, though!

You should finish your tattoo. Hard to tell from here what it is.

I think you should tell your doctor, not us. LoL
At any rate, I feel terrible for you. I got cellulitis in my leg once and it was so painful. I definitely waited too long to go to the doctor.

Streak away from heart ok. Streak toward heart bad bad bad bad bad.
When I also had mold toxicity I kept getting cellulitis. Having it on my foot sucked the most. Got IM and IV injections of antibiotics as it crept up my leg.

I just lost a toe to a cellulitis infection that made it’s way into the bone. Fun times.

Every time something like this gets posted I always try and make it a point to educate people on a couple things.
1. The “streaking” is from lymphangitis and is not necessarily dangerous. Lots of stuff cause lymphangitis including insect bites.
2. If that “streaking” goes to your heart you will not die, it’s meaningless generally but is a marker of inflammation but is not scary or dangerous.
3. Cellulitis, which is a skin infection is generally caused by a bacteria called staph or strep (of course now, there are exceptions…) and often times does need medications to resolve it before it gets worse.
4. There is no such thing as a “stronger” antibiotic. They are all essentially the same “strength “ but will kill different types of bacteria.
5. With a couple of exceptions there is very little difference between iv or po (by mouth) antibiotics. They both do the same thing and work just as quickly.
6. Plan on giving antibiotics 2 days before calling it a failed treatment.
7. Spiders do not cause abscess or skin infections unless there is some other immune issue. The poor damn spider gets blamed for all of these.
8. Elevate the limb and finish all antibiotics.
9. If the cellulitis is truly worsening despite being on meds for 48 hours, the issue is generally the type of antibiotic not covering that bacteria.
Source, an er doc who has spent many years explaining that you will not die because of that little line on your arm.

I work with horses. Cellulitis is surprisingly common and horses. Recently one of my clients horse’s had cellulitis so bad that the horse’s hoof almost popped off entirely. The bone and everything still there, but the whole hoof capsule almost completely popped off. I’ve never seen anything like it in my 20+ years in the industry. Horse survived
