I had one of those, dermoid cyst. It had hair and teeth but worse than that caused ovarian torsion. I was too grossed out to even look at the pictures!

I really wish I could go back to not knowing that this could happen. Opened a floodgate in my head.
That said, I hope you’re doing well and feeling awesome. Tell your tooth that I’m sorry it never got to chew anything.

I had a hysterectomy because of a suspected teratoma in an ovary ( I requested the full shebang) – I’m extremely jealous of you because mine was just a hemmoraghic cyst. I really wanted a tooth, I had even named it. 🥲

I wonder what the tooth fairy’s rate is for a teratoma tooth.

Well that’s something I didn’t expect to see today. Though I suppose you weren’t expecting it either.

Awesome ! Teratomas are the coolest things ever. They can contain so many random developmental layers but you often get teeth and hair just like that! You had a lucky little germ cell that wanted to do its own thing instead of integrating properly into your body.

What’s the tooth fairy’s policy on these?

Does the tooth fairy still come get that, or…?

lol. More common than one would think. My Teratoma which was removed was a piece of skin with “copious hair”. It was the size of a cigarette box and required a hysterectomy, which I was so very happy to have btw.

All my life, I had a lump at the back of my neck, right here. Always, a lump. Then I started menopause and the lump got bigger from the “hormonees.” It started to grow. So I go to the doctor, and he did the bio… the b… the… the bios… the… b… the “bobopsy.” Inside the lump he found teeth and a spinal cord. Yes. Inside the lump was my twin.

Oh hey a Teratoma tumor, I’ve had 2 of those removed. The first one was in 8th grade, then another came along 19 years later lol.
The first time, that one got so large, the doctor described it as the size of a dinosaur egg and I’m probably in some pediatric journal somewhere because of it. This one also tried to take out my right ovary, but it did not succeed.
However, by the time the second round came along, I’d long since determined I don’t want kids, so I got the gynecologist surgeon to agree to removing my tubes as well as lighting my uterus on fire for its sins (uterine ablation to stop periods). This time around tho, the tumor did manage to damage my left ovary enough that the surgeon opted to remove this one altogether lmao.

Oooh a teratoma! I had a 10 lb ovarian teratoma when I was 12. It caused an intestinal obstruction.

How big was your tumor to grow such a powerful little tooth? I had 2 grapefruit sized teratomas, one on each ovary, and they contained a tooth and hair. Monsters indeed.

I’m missing 10 teeth (born without them, so is a lot of my family) and you just here pulling spare teeth out of random body parts!

Oh what you got to keep yours? My ovarian cyst had teeth, sweat glands and hair! Such a bizzare thing
PetalMetal55 on
Woww how did you convince them to let you keep it?? I had an ovarian teratoma removed (along with the ovary and fallopian tube) twoish years ago that had two teeth, hair, and even some brain but sadly wasn’t allowed to keep any due to some cancer found within. I’ve since had a daughter who I consider my second born lol

I forget what it’s called, BUT it is a natural (though rare) phenomenon for a tumor to grow things like teeth or hair.
