    1. A theif willing to grave rob isn’t a god fearing person in the first place.

“God is watching, but we aren’t.”

I feel like it would be much more effective to put up fake cameras.

    3. I mean, grave robbing has been a thing for thousands of years. Not saying it’s morally acceptable, just that’s it’s aggressively human.

just imagine if god were real. But yeah they shouldn’t do that

    5. Need reagents for rituals, and we don’t have reagent shops around for miles.

I feel like if a person is low enough to steal from the cemetery they don’t care if God is watching…

Gold has gone up alot recently… each hole is an almost guaranteed $2,000. That paired with the rapid inflation we have experienced in the last 5 years & the absence of wages to compensate probably starts to sound not as bad as it should to struggling people.

Let’s not actually do anything about the problem. I hear Sky Daddy’s got this one.

Yeahhh I help run a memorial garden explicitly for people who’ve not just died but been killed. We recently put a statue in our garden. Lasted three weeks before it was taken. Everything has to be buried with an anchor in the earth, glued down, or tied with metal wire and zip ties or it’ll walk. Such is humanity

My dad’s cemetery has a cooler sign. “Thou Shalt Not Park Here”

My cousin began stealing decorative urns from cemeteries and selling them for the copper they were made of. The recycler got wise and called the cops, who picked up her and her bf the next time they came in. He took the blame, and she got off light. Jail really should’ve been involved. Family or not, that was just low.

If you’re gonna steal, and I don’t advocate it, my philosophy is that it’s better to steal from the wealthy who can easily afford the loss.

    12. I assume they are stealing the brass flower vases that are part of many headstones in cemeteries. They did this to my father and mother’s graves. Eventually, the local scrapyards would not accept brass from certain individuals, as they “caught on” when newspapers started posting about the thefts.

“God is watching. But powerless. Like a cuck. I guess what this sign means is that god is a cuck. Which is fine. But not helpful at preventing theft.”

    14. Alternatively

“If you steal from the dead, you’ll join them.”

Someone did this to the flowers on my grandpas grave my dad told my grandma to spray them with this bitter spray he uses at the dog shelter he volunteers at, he said he got some on his hand once and everything he ate tasted bitter for a week

I would just put up a sign that says “We hired a groundskeeper named Old Man Jenkins fresh out of prison and we gave him a shovel and a 5th of vodka. Good luck.”

I’ve always been of the opinions that what the dead wanted in life doesn’t matter once they die. They want nothing and don’t care anymore what happens to their corpse and former belongings. I tell my family to do whatever will make them feel better about it when I die.

I think getting cameras and a “smile you’re on camera” sign would be more effective

    19. What the sign doesn’t mention is that “God” is a territorial 125-pound Rottweiler.

      “Sic ’em, God!”

    20. Wouldn’t it be more effective to just pay a guard or three to pull shifts?

    21. LuckyBoneHead on

You can’t even put a sign up that says “God is watching” without redditors going “erm, if he’s watching then why doesn’t he help!?” or other dumb nonsense that distracts from the main point: who’d be low enough to steal from a graveyard?
