Make a new character. Problem solved. I wish they kept up Salt because she was that new kind of idea.
Edit: I mean separate from Bond. New story, new character.

Mastering the eloquence of language is a talent. Communicating poetically, concisely, and provocatively is Drew Barrymore’s blessing. I want her to write my eulogy 😆

I do think he’s right for the role but if he doesn’t want it why should people pressure him to take it or seek it out

I wish we could’ve heard anyone else speak too. Especially someone that actually wanted to answer his second question.
I love you Drew, but I also wanted to hear someone else’s voice too

Cause he’s hot. I never seen a bond film but I assume that’s important.

Honestly, they could just make another agent in the same world. Any creative writer can pull that off. Personally, I’m not a fan of black actors having to portray a white character to be seen. We don’t have to be them to do that, and once he’s established, you can make a film with both characters. That would be way more successful than replacing a character. Establish a new agent with his own persona and backstory, which would expand the universe, then make a film that includes both.

The allure was that Idris Elba was the 1st a list black & British a-list actor. There are more prominent black British actors in Hollywood now, but at the time he was the only one. Personally I’d love Damson Idris to give it a go, but it depends on how young they want the new Bond to be

In today’s political climate, they would have a fit. They lose their minds anytime a characters gender or race is changed. Hell, they threw a fit about Yasuke being in the last Assassin’s Creed game and he was a real person.

We didn’t get Bond but we got Solomon Reed from him. I liked that. I thought he was great in that role.

Putting the race thing aside, Idris is just kinda the wrong guy. He’s too big, if that makes any sense. He doesn’t make sense as James in the same way a Henry Cavil doesn’t make sense.

As a bond fanatic, Sean Connery, Daniel Craig both have the same characteristics as Idris on the screen. I want the best actor for the role to get the role and I think Idris Elba is in the top 5 that can fill the role of 007.

I don’t care that he’s black. He’s got incredible on screen charisma and fits the role perfectly. He’s got name recognition, a vast body of work, he’s fucking British. There are only a handful of British names that could possibly be considered with those credentials…..would you really want to see any of them? Genuinely, I don’t believe there is a better natural fit for the part.
THAT SAID.
He has a valid point that there’s a certain pressure applied to the first black man that would have to be Bond, and you are Bond in that role off screen. It’s one of the most well recognized franchises in the world and – like Daniel Craig has begrudgingly admitted – it will consume his career for at least three films. The racial understory does complicate the execution of a successful addition to the franchise, which makes me sad, but it is what it is.

I like how Idris just cuts right to the point in a soft way. Like (paraphrasing), “does me being black have anything to do with it?”
Drew gave him his flowers but the answer is yes bro. Let’s be fr. The people want a black James Bond and out of the black candidates that could play the role, you are the one the people want.
Idris has to understand this, he’s not dull. I think he just wants people to admit it.

Tom Cruise did it with mission impossible. Why can’t a studio produce a new story for him playing an agent.

That said, after watching the Wire, I throw up a little in my mouth when I see him (Stringer just sucks).
