I just learned that there’s 2 of them at an intersection I drive through every day.

It would be a shame if OP told us where this is so that we can make sure it is well taken care of.

I heard those need to have a fresh coat of spray paint applied daily to the lens to improve their accuracy.

Make sure if you go anywhere near this to just “observe” it, that you don’t have any electronic devices near you at all. These can pick up all sorts of signals (Bluetooth, wifi, etc) and correlate them to a particular person so they’ll know you were there at that exact time even if the camera can’t see you.

We had some graffiti on a fence in our neighborhood and the local police department actually suggested that homeowners pay to have a Flock camera installed. No thanks to that Orwellian nightmare. I would MUCH rather use a trail cam or similar if it happens again… something with a memory card and only private access!

I thought these were license plate readers? Why would they be on a hiking/biking trail?

    9. I recently learned they are headquartered in Atlanta. I’ve been surrounded for years without knowing.

    10. Water balloon filled with used motor oil and sand usually solves the problem

Take it down? Seems like a perfect spot to come back to at night to rip it out of the ground

Which license is that supposed to read?
For sure a alpr not a government spy camera,
Totally not a telescreen from nineteen eighty four

    13. On gogglemaps it looks like it’s been there a while. Street view has it there in May of 2024.

As much as I hate these cameras, trails and parks do need more trail cams (camouflaged) to help reduce missing persons.

But I think these cameras are an invasive species and need to be cut out, and burned to make sure they don’t spread.
