These are my grandpa’s parents, Oma and Opa, and they lived a pretty interesting life. They escaped from the Czech Republic towards the end of WWII but many if not most of their family members were not so lucky and ended up in concentration camps. They immigrated to the UK with my two great uncles and my Grandpa was born in Scotland in 1944. When my grandpa was 8 or 9 they left the UK and immigrated to the US.
My mom has said she only remembers them being divorced but told me that they stayed friends afterwards – they went on trips together and my Oma would even hang out with my Opa’s girlfriend.
Opa passed away when my mom was six years old, so I never knew him. Oma lived to 93 so I do remember her growing up.

Joyful photo. Thanks.
That’s a wonderful photo of them, what a cool slice of your family’s history to share. It must mean a lot to have those kinds of memories preserved.
