I think it’s actually multiple cutscenes that happen one after another. You have to “skip cutscene” multiple times to skip it.

But yeah. Metal gear 4 is short af if you’re skipping the cutscenes. And you’ll have no fucking clue what’s going on if you didn’t watch them at least once. Like, going from a jungle to a snowbase with 0 context.

    2. Will be interesting to see if all these reviews for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of this game when it releases will mention if the battery will even last through the whole cutscene.

Jesus Christ. I can’t even articulate how much I *don’t* want my games to stop me playing for 71 minutes.

    4. After Playing through MGS 1 and 2 and Death Stranding, I think Kojima should stop creating games and do movies and shows instead

    5. ShadowFlarer on

Wait really? I thought the ending of Death Stranding was about 2 hours, but i guess is not just one long cutscene right?

    6. I vaguely remember there was a little bit of gameplay during act 3, my controller auto shutoff twice. Then my game time for the day was up.

I beat this game with my friend when he was visiting me one night. The end cutscenes started and he said he was going to leave after it was done. After about 45mins he left and it wasn’t even 1/2 over

This game is a masterpiece, and I enjoyed every second of everything, waiting for that remake

    9. Quantum break had live action, 20 min episodes in between gameplay sections

    10. I remember there being some cutscene on an airplane and some girl cooking an egg, and I just walk away to do something else for awhile

    11. The_Great_Googly_Moo on

Is this the scene where the little girl gets really upset he won’t eat her eggs.

Weirdly that’s the main thing I remember from that game

People always joked that Metal Gear is more like watching a movie instead of playing a game. Kojima took those words and said “Alright, bet.”

    13. My favourite game is mgsv phantom pain out of the series. Never liked mgs 4 tbh. Except the raiden one

Of course it still has the record, no one else would be crazy enough to come close to that. Kojima would be the one to beat that record if anything.

Still one of the most amazing gaming experiences I have ever had, but I will never forget that damn cutscene…

Loved this game. The active camo was badass and the metal gear chickens that sounded like cows and take huge watery shits when they screamed were terrifying.

This game came with 2 discs iirc which was a huge deal back in the day.

Cutscene happens right before a difficult boss fight and can’t be skipped.

This was my first Metal Gear game. I had no idea what I was in for. I loved it, but Jesus Christ. That last cutscene was a fucking doozy. I had no idea who anyone was or what was going on. Lol.

The gameplay was amazing though. Wouldn’t trade that experience for much. Haha. But yeah dear god those cutscenes were just too much indulgence.

This was a good game but the cinematics were so drawn out with many awkward moments and stilted dialogues.

    21. lol I remember this I thought my shit was bugged or something but nah. Still watched the whole thing!

    22. GrlDuntgitgud on

Still plenty of gameplay on top of it. Not like some blended adhesives.

My immediate reaction was to think “Wait, but Xenosaga….”. But yeah, MGS4 wins out
