There’s this story about Vlad III Dracula (Vlad the Impaler), Voivode of Wallachia, during diplomatic dealings with the Ottoman Empire in the late 1450s–early 1460s.
According to later accounts, Ottoman envoys refused to remove their turbans before Vlad, explaining that it was their custom. Vlad allegedly respected this request by having their headdresses nailed to their heads so they would never have to remove them.
